The Exalted Moon: Full Moon in Taurus, October 2026

Some full moons arrive like a storm. This one arrives like a long exhale.

On Monday, October 26, 2026 at 04:12 UTC (12:12 AM Eastern, 9:12 PM Pacific on Sunday the 25th), the Hunter's Moon rises full in Taurus. The harvest is in. Samhain is five nights away. And the Moon is standing in the one place in the whole sky where the ancients said she is most herself.

If you have been running on empty, this is the full moon that asks you to stop and notice what is actually holding you up: the people, the food, the body, the small comforts you keep forgetting to count. It is less about release and more about return. Coming back to your senses, quite literally.

There is a catch, and it is a beautiful one. The goddess who rules Taurus has gone missing. More on her below.

The Moon Comes Home to the Bull

Ancient astrologers believed every planet had one sign where it was honored above all others, like a guest seated at the head of the table. They called this its exaltation. For the Moon, that place is Taurus, and the old texts name the exact spot: 3° Taurus.

This full moon falls at 2°46' Taurus. That is a quarter of a degree from the Moon's seat of honor. It doesn't get much closer than that.

Why Taurus? The ancients answered with a story, and the story is really a description of the sky.

The horned goddess

The Greeks called the Moon goddess Selene. In the Orphic hymns, sung in her honor, she is called bull-horned. Look at a young crescent moon low in the west after sunset and you will see why: two curved points rising up like the horns of a bull. To the ancient eye, the Moon and the Bull shared the same silhouette.

The astronomer Ptolemy, writing in Alexandria in the second century, gave the same idea in the language of the sky. Each spring the Moon meets the Sun in Aries, then reappears as that first thin crescent once she has moved on into Taurus. Taurus is where her light is reborn every year. Of course this is where she is strongest.

The bees born from the bull

The philosopher Porphyry, writing in the third century, adds the most magical layer. In his essay On the Cave of the Nymphs, he notes that Taurus is the Moon's exaltation, and links it to an old belief that honeybees were born from the body of a bull. He tells us the ancients called the Moon herself Melissa, the bee, and called the priestesses of Demeter Melissae. For Porphyry, souls coming down into a body were "bull-born" too, arriving through the Moon's gate into the sweetness and heaviness of earthly life.

Why tell it this way? Myths were how the ancients carried knowledge across languages and centuries. You may forget a degree number, but you will not forget a horned goddess, a bull and a cloud of golden bees. Each piece of the story points at something real: the shape of the crescent, the place her light returns, the way the Moon governs our bodies and appetites.

What this means for you

An exalted Moon is a Moon who feels safe. And when the Moon feels safe, so do we. This is a full moon for:

  • Feeling your body. Notice hunger, tiredness, pleasure. The body is the bull, and the Moon is home in it.

  • Counting your blessings, literally. What is already sustaining you? Write it down before you ask for more.

  • Sweetness. Honey, slow meals, warm baths, music. Let pleasure be a spiritual practice, not a reward.

  • Steadiness over drama. Taurus doesn't rush. If something is meant to grow, it will grow at its own pace.

“An exalted Moon is a Moon who feels safe. And when the Moon feels safe, so do we”

Across the sky, the Sun sits in Scorpio, the sign where the Moon is weakest. So the full moon stretches between her strongest place and her most vulnerable one. You may feel both at once: deeply resourced, and aware of the losses and endings Scorpio season brings as we approach Samhain. Both are true. Let them sit side by side.

Where Did Venus Go?

Every sign has a ruling planet, a host who keeps the house. Taurus belongs to Venus, the planet of love, beauty, pleasure and value. So when the Moon arrives at her place of honor, you would expect Venus to be there to welcome her.

She isn't. Venus has disappeared.

For most of this year Venus has been the evening star, the bright light you see in the west after sunset. The Greeks called her Hesperos. But she has been sinking lower each night, and on October 24 she slipped between the Earth and the Sun and vanished into its glare. In early November she will reappear on the other side of the sky, rising in the east before dawn as the morning star, Phosphoros, the light-bringer.

The early Greeks thought these were two different gods. It was a philosopher, traditionally Pythagoras or Parmenides, who realized they were the same planet, going down into darkness in the west and coming back reborn in the east. The ancient astrologers said a planet hidden this close to the Sun was under the beams: present, but unseen, its voice muffled.

This is why so many stories send the goddess of love down into the underworld and bring her back changed. They are describing exactly what you can watch Venus do with your own eyes.

What this means for you

The Moon is surrounded by abundance, but the planet that tells us what our abundance is worth is off somewhere in the dark, being remade. Venus is also retrograde, moving backward through the sky until mid-November.

So this full moon is a wonderful time to notice what you have and what you love, and a poor time to decide what it all means. Don't rush to put a price on things: a relationship, a body, a creative project, your own worth. The answer is still forming underground. Give it until Venus rises again as the morning star in early November, and especially until she turns direct on November 13 to 14.

If you find yourself questioning what you value right now, you are not lost. You are in the underworld with her. She always comes back.

Your Full Moon Horoscope

Read for your rising sign first. It shows where this full moon lands in your life. If you don't know your rising sign, any free birth chart calculator will tell you (you'll need your birth time). Then read your Sun sign for a second layer.

You've been spending a lot of yourself lately, and this full moon shows you exactly where it's going. Money, possessions and the things you call yours come into focus, along with what you owe or share with others. You may realize you are carrying someone else's weight, or that something you own is quietly owning you. Your fiery nature wants to fix it tonight. Don't. Just look. Make a list of what genuinely nourishes you and what drains you. Around October 27, resist the impulse to spend your way out of a feeling. Spend on joy instead.

This is your moon, landing right on you. Expect to feel everything more: your body, your moods, your need to be held. You may look in the mirror and finally see yourself clearly, or a partner may show you something about yourself you couldn't see alone. Your ruling planet Venus is hiding, so you might feel unsure what you want or whether you're enough. You are. Rest is the assignment. Eat well, sleep long, let people take care of you. Big relationship or work decisions can wait until mid-November.

Something you've been holding privately is ready to surface. It might arrive as a dream, a sudden tear, or exhaustion your body won't let you ignore any longer. Old work issues are circling back too, asking to be finished properly this time. You usually handle feelings by talking about them; this time, try being quiet with them first. Give yourself a day of solitude before the Moon enters your own sign on October 28. You'll feel lighter afterward, like you set down a bag you didn't know you were carrying.

The Moon is your ruler, and she is at her very best. This is one of your strongest full moons of the year. The people in your corner show up for you, and a hope you've been nursing for a long time may finally bear fruit. Notice who answers when you reach out. Let yourself be celebrated, not just useful. Something creative or a child in your life may also bring you joy. Money is moving fast this week, so let your generosity be intentional rather than automatic.

You are lit up with energy and big ambitions right now, and this full moon puts your career and public life in the spotlight. Recognition, a new role or a visible win may arrive. The tension is at home: your private life and your public life are pulling in opposite directions, and you can feel it in your chest. You have the fire and the luck to do a lot. What you may not have is patience. Pace yourself around October 27, and ask what your heart needs, not just what your reputation wants.

Your mind wants to travel, learn and believe in something bigger, and this full moon shows you the path. A course, a trip, a teacher or a spiritual practice could come together or reach a turning point. At the same time, small daily things ask for your attention, especially conversations with siblings or close neighbors that need revisiting. Let the big vision and the small routine feed each other. Your dreams may be unusually vivid; keep a notebook by the bed.

Your ruling planet Venus is hiding in your own sign right now, so you may feel a little lost in yourself, unsure what you value or what you are worth. This full moon brings up shared money, debts, intimacy and the things you have outgrown. It is a private reckoning, and it can feel heavy. Please don't make big financial or relationship decisions this week. Venus turns direct in your sign on November 13, and you will see much more clearly then. For now, let your friends hold you. They want to.

This full moon holds up a mirror through your closest relationships. A partner, a collaborator or even a rival shows you something true, and old conversations about who you are together are circling back. You are seen right now, which can feel exposing. Work is pulling at you hard too, and it may clash with what your relationships need. Try not to force a resolution. The pressure eases by the end of October 27, and a more generous answer becomes possible if you leave room for it.

Your body has something to tell you, and this full moon turns the volume up. Routines that aren't sustainable become obvious: the late nights, the skipped meals, the job that takes more than it gives. Your spirit wants to run off on an adventure, and that hunger is real and good. But tend the body first. Rest is not wasted time this week; it's how you'll have the strength for the journey you're dreaming about. Something hidden is also ending quietly in the background. Let it.

Permission to play. This full moon lights up romance, pleasure, children and the things you create purely because you love them. Something you have nurtured is ready to be seen and enjoyed. You may be rebuilding your home life slowly and carefully right now, and this is the reminder that joy belongs in the foundation too. Your friends and community bring good news. If shared money comes up around October 27, keep the conversation calm; it will resolve better than you fear.

With Samhain days away, this full moon brings you home: to family, to ancestors, to the roots under everything you've built. You may feel tugged between career demands and the people who raised you, or a home that needs you. Honor both if you can, but if you must choose, choose roots this week. Partners bring both friction and gifts right now, sometimes in the same conversation. Light a candle for those who came before you. They are closer than usual.

This is a gentle, devotional full moon for you. Small daily rituals meet your biggest beliefs, and the two start to feel like the same thing. A message, a conversation with a sibling or neighbor, or a short trip could carry real meaning. Your days may feel overly busy around October 27, so protect a few quiet minutes each morning for prayer, journaling or simply looking at the sky. Your faith has been doing more work than you realize. Trust it.

Working With This Full Moon

An exalted Moon in an earth sign is not asking for drama. She is asking you to come back into your body and take stock of what is already here. A few ways to honor her:

  • Make an inventory of enough. Before the Moon leaves Taurus on October 28, write down everything that is sustaining you right now: people, places, skills, food, money, rest. Don't judge it or try to improve it. Venus is hidden, so this is a night for seeing, not valuing.

  • Feed the body slowly. Taurus rules the throat and the senses. Cook something simple from the harvest and eat it without a screen. Let pleasure be the practice.

  • Leave an offering for the ancestors. With Samhain five days away and the Sun in Scorpio, set aside a portion of that meal for those who came before you. This joins the Taurus theme of nourishment to the Scorpio theme of what lives beyond the visible.

  • Watch the eastern sky in early November. Once Venus clears the Sun's beams, look east before dawn for the morning star. Greet her return. It is the same planet that went down into the dark, coming back as the light-bringer.

  • Mind October 27. When the Moon squares Mars, slow down before you react. When she reaches Jupiter later that day, say yes to the help offered.
